Which size of fingerboard is right for me?

Sup Shredders!

There are several size options to choose from when selecting a fingerboard deck these days. 32mm has been the adopted standard for pro model boards, but you can scale larger or smaller depending on your preferences.

So... Are you wondering what size of fingerboard deck is right for you? No worries, we've got you covered. Here are a few points you’ll want to consider when picking out your perfect fingerboard deck size:

#1 Hand/Finger Size

This one is pretty straightforward. If you are an adult with full grown hands, you may find a larger fingerboard is more comfortable. If you are shopping for a kid or have smaller hands, a smaller deck may be easier to navigate.

#2 Skill Level

Are you just starting out on your fingerboarding journey? If so, you may want to go with a smaller deck to make it easier to perform tricks. As you get more comfortable and start to progress, you can graduate to a larger deck. On the other hand, if you're a seasoned fingerboarder looking for a new challenge, a larger deck may be the way to go.

#3 Tricks

Different sized decks can be better suited for certain tricks. Smaller decks may be more suitable for flip tricks, while larger decks may be better for grinds and slides. Think about what types of tricks you want to master and choose a deck size accordingly. You’re skill level (#2) will obviously factor in heavily on decision.

#4 Personal Preference

Ultimately, the size of fingerboard deck you choose will come down to your personal preference. Some people like the feel of a smaller deck, while others may prefer a larger one. It's a good idea to try out a few different sizes and see what feels best for you.

In general, the most common pro model fingerboard decks are between 32mm and 34mm wide and between 99mm and 121mm long. But don't be afraid to think outside the box and experiment to find your personal preference – there are decks available outside of this range.

Hopefully, these 3 tips will get you on your way to finding the perfect deck size for you. Remember, the right size for you will depend on your hand size, skill level, the tricks you want to perform, and your personal preference. With a little experimenting, you'll be able to find the perfect size for you in no time.
